Accidental Olympian
"Cheap-o with expensive taste"
In 2009 I was laid off from my job along with the rest of America. Having always been frugal, unemployment took my interest in saving into an obsession. Back to full time work now the ability to enjoy life on a budget remains my main goal!

Accidental Olympian's Questions & Answers
Question 1: Why do you deserve to Bring Home the Bacon?
Answer: Because I know what it means to literally save pennies just to enjoy a meal out with your boyfriend. http://ow.ly/67XzA Because I know what it means to sacrifice your personal life for the sake of your finances, http://ow.ly/67XGL. I've suffered through a 6 month unemployment journey, learned to grow my own veggies to decrease my grocery bills, and can pinch a penny like nobodies business. The chance to share tips and tricks with others, as well as receive 100,000 would enable me to pay off my student loans, put money back in my house, and finally take a dream vacation.
Question 2: What are your current money saving strategies?
Answer: I am in the middle of a debt reduction mission. I am working from highest interest rate to smallest, set to FINALLY pay off my credit card this December. After that I snowball my payment into the next loan. I am currently carless to devote money to my debt, and I put money in an ING savings every paycheck so that I'm saving, but unable to touch the money quickly or spend it rashly. I save money on food by eating at home 95% of the time, and try to grow my own lettuce, beans and herbs in my townhouse balcony.
Question 3: What is your greatest money saving feat?
Answer: When I was a sophomore at the University of WA, winter quarter I decreased from full time to part time for one year, working two jobs 7 days a week so that when the year was up I could apply to be a WA state resident and have my tuition decreased by about 400%. To help pay for the year (1 class a quarter was still 5,000!) I took out a $10,000 deferred student loan through my local bank. I didn't have to enter repayment for the loan until I graduated, but instead I paid the entire loan back in 11 months. Working two jobs 7 days a week I paid off the loan and returned to school debt free!
Question 4: Who is your favorite member of the CheapSally extended family?
Answer: It has to be Cheap Sally. Although Loyal Lucky comes in close second. Cheap Sally knows the importance of getting the things we need in our daily life at a good price and doesn't worry about frills. If we can save on the things we use every day, then there is more freedom to spend on the fun things like vacations or splurges!
