Carly Morgan's Questions & Answers

Question 1: Why do you deserve to Bring Home the Bacon?

Answer: After losing my job as a state attorney two years ago, I've become the queen of smart spending. I rarely pay full-price for anything and I've cut our monthly budget in half without giving up luxuries like eating out, buying new clothes, and taking vacations. Now that we have a daughter and I have the opportunity to stay home with her and still keep us "in the black", I'd love to help other moms who'd rather be home!

Question 2: What are your current money saving strategies?

Answer: I click coupons from newspapers and combine them with virtual coupons and loyalty rewards. I also have a long list of iPhone apps that let me find the best deals when I'm out and about. When I'm shopping from home, I wait for free shipping and apply discount codes to every purchase. The best thing for our household, however, has been my shifting attitude towards buying things. I'm better at buying in bulk, storing up, and cooking cheaper meals. I've also gotten in the habit of altering and repairing things like clothing and furniture to make them last a little longer.

Question 3: What is your greatest money saving feat?

Answer: We took a week-long trip to Walt Disney World for just about $200 out of pocket. I used a combination of travel rewards, discount codes, and loyalty points to cover travel expenses and cashed in a number of reward points from various sites in exchange for Disney Gift Cards, which we used for our hotel stay. Park tickets were included with the hotel thanks to a special low-season promotion offered by Disney. I packed a bunch of snacks purchased on coupons at home and we only ate out twice during the week. If it hadn't been for the souvenirs we just couldn't live without, the trip would have been almost free!

Question 4: Who is your favorite member of the CheapSally extended family?

Answer: Who doesn't love Cheap Sally?!
